This is a 3 part series: Each virtual session (Thursday, September 19th, Thursday, September 26th, and Thursday, October 3rd) will be 2 hours. **Participants must attend all three sessions to receive a certificate, partial certificates will not be issued**
Part 1: Relationship Dynamics and Challenges 9/19/24 6:30-8:30pm
Explore the dynamics during challenging experiences between educators and students from a brain and body perspective. Learn what makes it so easy to become stuck in a cycle of interacting that doesn’t feel productive. Examine two vital concepts grounded in neuroscience that deepen our understanding of what is occurring. Most importantly, learn how to impact these interactions positively.
Part 2: Relationship Dynamics and Understanding Escalation 9/26/24 6:30-8:30pm
Tie together what we’ve learned thus far to understand the main causes of escalation in behaviors and interactions. Learn how we can impact perception moment by moment and help the brain make meaning in different situations. Examine a framework that helps us reframe conflicts and understand how to consciously choose responses.
Part 3: Individual Differences and Safety and Belonging 10/3/24 6:30-8:30pm
We’ll further explore values and priorities as we deepen our understanding of unique hierarchies of values and how they impact how we each behave, and how we perceive one another. We'll also delve into individual differences, including sensitized stress reactions, and gain a better understanding of how both environment and experiences affect perceived safety and belonging.
