Welcome to the Coast Capital THRIVE Program

The Coast Capital THRIVE Program at the BC Centre for Ability supports young adults with disabilities as they explore their strengths, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward employment and independence. Through personalized vocational counselling and skill-building opportunities, participants are empowered to set goals and work toward a future that reflects their unique potential.

Coast Capital THRIVE is a collaborative program, and we ask that participants come ready to engage in the process. Regular meetings with a vocational counsellor are a key part of the journey, and your motivation and commitment will help make the experience as rewarding as possible.

Is THRIVE right for you?

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • Are between the ages of 19 and 29

  • Are motivated and ready to actively participate in the program

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!

Please note, there may be a wait for service due to high levels of interest in the program. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

No, the Coast Capital THRIVE program is a free service for participants, institutions, and employers.

You can self refer through our online form or have a support person apply on your behalf.

Once you submit your application, one of our team members will reach out to you to confirm your eligibility and have a friendly chat about how the program works and what you're hoping to achieve. If you're accepted, you might be asked to complete a few intake surveys or goal-setting activities while you wait to be matched with a vocational counsellor. Wait times can vary depending on how many people we're currently supporting, but we’ll keep you informed every step of the way.

Most participants are involved in THRIVE for about six months, but there’s no set limit—as long as you're actively working toward your goals, you’re welcome to stay involved! You and your vocational consultant will regularly check in and review your action plan together to make sure it’s still working for you.

We ask that participants commit to at least one contact per month with their vocational consultant. When you feel ready to move on—like after starting a new job—we’ll work together to decide on a good time to close your file (usually about three months after starting work). If there’s no contact or active involvement for a month, we’ll assume you’ve moved on and will close your file. You can reapply when you’re ready to begin again.
