Join us for a two-part learning series to discuss inclusive childcare leadership in BC!
 
Please Read Carefully as there is a 10 hour Pre-Requisite to this Training (Modules are available online starting Sept 17)
 
Training Format
Prior to the first session, participants MUST complete Modules 1-3 of the Leaders of Inclusive Childcare Training (approx. 6 hours, online, self-paced).
 
Session #1: Introduction, Identity, Awareness
October 22nd 2025, 6:30pm-8:30pm (2 hours)
  • Discuss inclusive leadership, identity, and awareness in the context of childcare in BC
  • Participate in guided activities and reflection
     

Prior to the second Session, participants MUST complete Modules 4 and 5 of the Leaders of Inclusive Childcare Training (approx. 4 hours, online, self-paced) 

Session #2: Care, Collective Wisdom, Conclusion
November 12th 2025, 6:30pm-8:30pm (2 hours)
  • Discuss care (including self-care, trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and empathy) and collective wisdom in the context of childcare in BC
  • Participate in guided activities and reflection
To confirm:
Participants will need to complete Modules 1-3 before Session 1 on Oct 22, and then complete Modules 4 & 5 prior to Session 2 on Nov 12. 

 
We understand this is a very busy season for childcare staff, and this is a unique workshop scenario.
If you do not have the time or capacity to complete these modules before attending, please do not register for this workshop.

Facilitator(s): Cara Baudin and Alycia Garcia

Alycia Garcia (she/her) was an elementary school teacher before joining CanAssist as the Special Projects Team Lead. She is very passionate about inclusive education and childcare for all children and is inspired by members of the community contributing to this work.

Cara Baudin (she/her) studied child development during her psychology degree and has previous work experience in the non-profit sector supporting adaptive recreation, education, and youth suicide prevention initiatives. She now works on an inclusive childcare consulting team as a Communications Specialist.

Important Details to Note Prior to Registering:

  • This online free training is offered to childcare staff working in Burnaby and Vancouver. 
  • Only registered individuals will be allowed to join the workshop.
  • Professionals attending will receive a professional development certificate if applicable within one week of the workshop.
  • Participation is required. Your video needs to be on, your camera must be enabled and your microphone working to receive your certificate. Participants must stay for the full workshop/course to receive a certificate.
  • You can join the Zoom link 15 minutes prior to the presentation start time. We will not admit anyone 15 minutes after the start time with respect to the presenters and participants.
  • All participants are expected to complete an online survey after the training.
  • If you cannot attend please do your best to provide 48 hours notice. If you do not cancel and do not show up you will be put on a waitlist and removed from future trainings.
