Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will learn how brain states and body states impact students’ learning abilities.
2. Participants will learn 3 questions to help identify brain and body states.
3. Participants will learn approaches for shifting perceptions so students begin to believe they can manage challenging experiences.
4. Participants will be able to apply proactive regulatory strategies throughout the school day.
Stress and anxiety can significantly influence daily school life by impacting the brain's ability to process information effectively. This can result in dysregulation, hinder learning, and impact behavior. Neuroscience can help educators identify when students are experiencing dysregulation and are not in optimal mental or physical states for learning. By understanding this, we can implement inclusive strategies that promote safety, foster trust and belonging, and encourage students to face challenges with curiosity rather than fear. Many students enter learning environments lacking the skills needed to manage difficulties. By intentionally focusing on building these skills, we can help all students learn how to navigate challenging situations. Join us in exploring practical applications of neuroscience to create safe, welcoming, and child-centered regulatory environments that provide regular opportunities for regulation throughout the day, benefiting all students.
